Synopsis

In defiance of her family’s opposition, Song Ah gets accepted to the music school of the same university where she originally majored in business. As she’s seven years older than her classmates, she finds her new academic life daunting and struggles to find strength. One day, she hears Joon Young playing “Traumerei," which comforts her. Joon Young is a talented pianist who started playing the piano when he was six. He’s been friends with Jung Kyung, the granddaughter of Kyunghoo Group’s CEO, for a long time, and is in love with her. When he decides to keep his distance from Jung Kyung, he meets Song Ah.

Review

This slow-burn Korean drama follows actors who portray characters much like themselves. It follows a protagonist who faces multiple challenges and judgement, however, she remains strong with her vulnerabilities. Park Eun Bin portrays a character who is inspirational as she persists to follow her desires and making new relationships while mending old ones.

Spoiler Review

All actors portrayed this great chemistry and care for each other which really made their story believable. I love how they showed that Eun Bin tried and tried for many years to be great at something she enjoyed -going against all of her friends and family's belief of what she should do- and still ended up failing. It showed that sometimes you can try your best, but if it wasn't meant to be for you, it will never work out no matter how much you want it. 

The ending, however, I was not very pleased with as I believed Kim Min Jae's character was not as toxic as they made him out to be. I believe that what made Eun Bin's character hesitant to be with Min Jae's character was the people around him and the history they shared. 

Nevertheless, this drama remains one of my absolute favourites as it sparked an interest in classical music and a love for the composition 'Moonlight Sonata' by Beethoven. I wish I can turn back time to when I was eagerly waiting every week for a new episode release!
