Synopsis

Vincenzo Cassano, an Italian mafia consigliere who was adopted as a child, returns to his homeland of South Korea in pursuit of hidden gold. Along the way, Vincenzo encounters a human rights lawyer in pursuit of social justice, while crossing paths with the older man’s high-flyer lawyer daughter, who would do everything to cover up her client’s dirty deeds. An untimely and unjust death eventually brings them down the same path — taking down the bad guys in their own unique way.

Review

Vincenzo has to be my 2021 favourite Korean drama. I absolutely loved how they included so many genres in this piece while still maintaining its main genre. It featured great ruthless villains, with one being Vincenzo Cassano himself, and really portrayed the politics involved in businesses. This is a must-watch and a must-love. I wish I can go back to waiting every week on the edge of my seat for a new episode!

Spoiler Review

Firstly, I really loved how Song Joong Ki gradually showed how Vincezo opened up to everyone in the plaza; how he became comfortable with them and identified them as a family. I love how they did not let all the power remain on one side and allowed Vincenzo to be cruel to his enemies.

The line, "To fight the devil, you must become the devil", really struck me and I loved to see Vincenzo enforce it. Joong Ki did an amazing job of showing how broken, vengeful and hurt he was when both his mother was murdered and Cha Young was shot. Words cannot describe how much I loved his acting in this. Especially, with the relationship, he developed with Han Seo, who honestly deserved the world and to get revenge on his brother for all the years of cruelty he had to grow up with. Just thinking about it is bringing tears to my eyes. 

In the end, of course, I was a season 2, but I also believe that nothing can beat this season and the storyline may not allow for a season 2. Therefore, I am more than content with everything I have seen, including the lovely behind the scenes. I hope if you watched it as well, that you loved it too!
